Introducing the Nintendo 2DS!

Before you ask—no, you are not dreaming. It’s also not April Fool’s Day! Earlier today, Nintendo announced that they will be releasing a brand new handheld system to complement their already super popular handheld system, the Nintendo 3DS.

The new handheld system is called the Nintendo 2DS and offers the same features and functionality of the 3DS, except…wait for it….the 3D!

The 2DS can play all current and future 3DS games but without the 3D. It’s also compatible with DS games. The system features a slate-like design unlike the other 3DS systems where you can fold it.

Fans wondering how they can protect the 2DS from scratches and other physical damage? Nintendo will be selling these snazzy pouches that you can carry the 2DS in!

The 2DS will go on sale for $129.99 ($40 cheaper than the regular 3DS) on October 12th! If that date seems familiar, it’s the day Pokemon X and Pokemon Y comes out! It’s definitely not a coincidence. More like brilliant marketing!
